Over the years, our experiences and the resulting knowledge has driven us to share this expertise through consulting services. We specialize in efforts relating to rural development and income generation. Consulting allows us to take what we have learned locally and apply the knowledge at the national and global levels; it also helps us get to know and learn from other successful initiatives.
In the past 3 years, Kiej de los Bosques has served as an advisor for many different sectors; the private sector, NGOs, foundations, and governments at a national and international level.
Recently, we have worked with Save the Children and SOCODEVI in developing strategies to generate income in rural communities of the Altiplano of Guatemala.
Kiej also was part of the design team for the rural area "Economic Development Program", coordinated by the Secretariat for the Planning of the Guatemalan Presidency. This program seeks to link 300 rural groups with national and international markets and to drive land negotiations (planning, pre-investment and investment) in eight departments of the country. This project is already funded by a donation of five million dollars (USD) from the Government of Sweden and is pending approval for a 60 million dollar loan contract with World Bank and IADB.
Nowadays, Kiej also serves as an advisor for the UNITED NATIONS FOUNDATION, which seeks to develop an income generation system for communities that live on priceless historical sites. Other important players in the coalition are PNUD and UNESCO. The pilot program is currently being developed in Sian Ka’an in Mexico.
